The letter, signed from ?Startrembey [or ?Starkenbuy, signature very unclear], sends [Pitt] the official letter [not present] from "Mile [Madamoiselle] gal Cide ?Clerfayh" and requests an answer. A manuscript note on the reverse in another hand records the letter as being from C. ?Startrembey and enclosing another letter.

These are black and white postcards of Mantes-sur-Seine. One shows 'Le Pont et la Seine' and the other shows the 'Eglise Notre-Dame.' Dorothy Needham was on holiday in Scotland.
